Abstract

The study focuses on exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) can transform nursing education, especially by analyzing its impact on knowledge acquisition, knowledge retention, and clinical learning outcomes. The intensive development of AI technologies has also come with new methods of teaching and learning, such as simulation-based learning, virtual patients, intelligent tutoring system, and immersive virtual environments. These technologies offer individualised, interactive, and data-driven learning opportunities that make students more engaged and help learn complex clinical concepts. Simulation made possible through AI helps nursing students to train their clinical skills, acquire decision-making skills, and experience a variety of real and simulated clinical settings with minimal risk and in a controlled setting. Moreover, adaptive learning systems and real-time feedback mechanisms contribute to the continuous improvement and long-term knowledge retention. Although these are the advantages, the paper also notes various issues linked to the adoption of AI, such as excessive dependence on technology, the issue of academic integrity, biases in the algorithm, lack of human connections, and the problem of data privacy. These issues highlight the importance of a balanced and ethics-oriented approach to the implementation of AI in nursing education. The study concludes that AI can be a powerful tool to improve the learning results and equip nursing students with the skills to work in the modern healthcare setting, but its success hinges on proper institutional policies, educator readiness, and responsible student behavior. Suggestions are made to inform educators and policymakers about the ways to achieve the sustainable and successful implementation of AI technologies in nursing education.
